On October 30, 2006, Verizon hosted the National Literacy Summit.2. This second annual literacy event convened literacy providers, corporate and government representatives, and academic researchers to identify what works in literacy across the lifespan – the science, strategies and practices that effect positive outcomes.
Participants learned about proven program elements, outcomes and measures. Verizon’s Life Span Literacy Matrix was also unveiled as a single source for information and direction to enable the literacy community and community based organizations put research into practice.
