Recite a nursery rhyme or poem, one line at a time. Ask your child to repeat each line after you. Then, say the rhyme or poem together.
Like this: "See, see! What shall I see?
A horse's head where his tail should be."
Children like to repeat what grown-ups say, and this actually helps them build important listening skills. Be sure to listen to your child closely and help her repeat each line correctly. If you are reading the rhyme or poem from a book, follow along with your finger as you read each word aloud. Do the same as your child repeats the line.
