Look at the pictures in a book, newspaper or magazine together. Talk about what you and your child see. Can you make up a story to go with the pictures?

Encourage your child to look at the details in pictures or photographs when you read together. Help him use new words by asking questions: “What color is the hat?” “Which tree is taller?” “Why do you think the boy is sad in this picture?”
