The Verizon Tech Savvy Awards honor programs that improve parents and children's understanding and use of technology. The 2008 winners were announced at the National Conference on Family Literacy presented by the National Center for Family Literacy. These standard-setting programs serve as models for integrating technology training into traditional family literacy programming. Before the winners were unveiled, audience members were dazzled as celebrity guest Byron Pitts, National Correspondent for CBS News, and Judy Spitz, CIO for Verizon Business, solved a mystery literary caper that led them deep inside a virtual world.
