What can you do, as a volunteer, to assist adult literacy and English-language programs?
The opportunities for volunteers are many and varied. Volunteers help literacy programs teach, manage the office, organize student recognition and fundraising events, lead field trips, make learning aids, assist students in a computer lab, write newsletters, etc. Today’s volunteers want to put their volunteer time to the best use, and this collection was designed to meet their needs—and yours! You can use some or all of these free resources to help you make the decision about whether volunteering in literacy is the right choice for you and what role you’d like to play.
The link below will take you to a list of free self-paced online courses, print resources, podcasts, and Web links that can help you make your decision. You’ll even have a chance to hear from volunteers about what they do and what their involvement has meant for them.
